HoJo Down To Last Location

http://frontpage.pch.com/story/2973...o-close-leaving-only-1-more?category=business

A shame. There was no reason this iconic brand needed to be left to die on the vine.

It would have needed to redo its menu, its decor, its attitude, everything. It would have been nothing like the HoJo of your memories. And even then it might not have survived. HoJo did much of its business along major highways. Standalone restaurants are a thing of the past on the Interstates now; "travel plaza" food is sold food-court style, and many travelers don't even bother to sit down and eat, they take the food to the car and eat it there or nibble on it while traveling. Maybe some folks my age (61) and older will get a nostalgic kick out of being seated, giving a server an order, waiting 20 minutes, then eating stuff our parents liked more than us 45 years ago. But how many would want to make it a routine?

The HoJo that is closing has a waitress who has been there for 50 years. I must say that once upon a time in college (leaving it at once upon a time) the chain had some very stringent requirements and standards to work there in any capacity, so if that lady has been there for 50 years she met a platinum standard in waitressing. Godspeed, gal.
