Help with Un-ID

On the way home from work earlier today (7/6) in Raleigh NC, I heard a station on 95.3 which I *think* was a K-call...thought I heard "KQSD" but that call doesn't match anything likely in the FCC database.

The format was some flavor of rock. I thought I heard AC/DC and ZZ Top during the brief periods I could hear the signal. Also heard some imaging that said something like "covering two countries and 30 counties", so I figured it was probably a border state, like Texas.

Any ideas?

Challenging riddle, but I think I've got it! What you heard was WXXZ Grand Marais, MN. They rebroadcast KQDS 94.9 from Duluth and can indeed be heard in the US and Canada. They also have a classic rock format. Darn good catch via E-skip from North Carolina!

AND..1027 miles from Raleigh! Good catch!! :) :) :)

WOW! Thanks, guys! I thought I might have gotten the call a little scrambled. Great work tracking that one down!

Maybe not coincidentally, 10 meters was also pretty active yesterday evening.
