FCC and Audiovox

FRR said:
Any idea why the FCC forced Audiovox to reduce the transmitting power of their XM units?

How about because they "failed to comply with federal operating standards"?

The satcasters have been playing fast and loose with FCC regulations on Part 15 for their in-car units that work through existing FM radios, and for their ground stations that retransmit the satellite content in populated areas. Check out this Businessweek article for more info. The section on FCC compliance, which starts near the bottom and continues onto pg. 2 details the complaints filed by the NAB.
