Differences in Jack FM/Adult HIts sounds?

It seems like different "Jack" or different adult hits stations can vary a lot in sound, ranging from some being closer to AC sounding stations, to some being more AAA leaning, to some being more classic rock/rock sounding. There's also kind of the "standard" sound with Alanis and Creed and whatnot. What variations have you noticed?

It really depends on the market and what other stations exist. Some Adult Hits stations serve as the de-facto Classic Hits station, some as the de-facto Classic Rock station, and others fall in-between.

98.7 Simon in Greensboro, NC is the classic hits station (though there are small AMs in the area as well). It does venture into Hot AC territory and has been known to include metal, grunge or rap. But the songs you expect on classic hits are there.

In the case of WASL 100.1 in Dyersburg, TN they had been classic rock until 2015 when they switched to the Jack format, but it really seems to me like it was more of a tweaking of the classic rock with the addition of more classic hits. WYNU 92.3 in Jackson, TN changed from classic rock to classic hits, but there seems to be an overlapping between the old format with more AC added.

One thing both stations have in common is that they both carry John Boy and Billy in the morning.
