Have you considered a Channel Master antenna? If your new antenna from Antennas Direct doesn't make a significant difference, I wouldn't be afraid to try a Channel Master. I find that Channel Master models provide a bit more of a "traditional" design, with larger elements that can improve the overall quality of reception. Again, I'm not an engineer and can only speak from my own experience. I had a relative using a Channel Master antenna in a region with complicated terrain, and the overall size of the antenna made a positive difference in reception. I hope the new antenna works out so you don't have to go through the hassle of going back up on the roof!
