I thew that entire issue in the trash! I think most of the music in all formats for 2014 sucked. Overall sales were down 12-14%. NOW, I see why Billboard wants to add in streaming data...........................they NOW see themselves that something is just not right with their charts.

Always tinkering with the methodology and adding this and that to their charts year after year after year. Next year they will probably count music adds at bus stops and combine that data into their charts. Why not? I'm sure it has some impact on overall sales. Forgive me for giving them a new idea. LOL
 
I have been told I am quite negative with my opinions, but I think Greg here clearly beats me in that department! I will say 2014 was a really bad year for music, however there were SOME tracks that were surprisingly good. We can obviously see that Billboard is an extremely messed up source for Dance music. Half of this list contains non Dance artists, therefore they should not be on the list. I don't care who remixed it....Fancy is not worthy of this list. But the politics in the music industry allow it to chart because PDs insisted on giving it spins, because they were promised ticket giveaways to the next big concert in town, and poof....the song goes #1. It has nothing to do with requests or sales. Especially in the Dance format. These label promoters get to the Billboard reporters and get them to chart records that are backed by campaigns.

Summer by Calvin Harris is a terrible song, and if you really think it was the absolute best Dance song of 2014, you may be able to work for Billboard. Turn Down for What is another turd. I wouldn't even consider it Dance. Its downtempo, its twerk.....therefore its Urban to me. Pompeii was 2013....so was Animals, Timber and Counting Stars. Is the format really that short of product that we have to include crossover from 2013 and Top40?

Only 3 of these tracks made it to their Top 10. Duke Dumont charted 47 on their list in favor of songs like Ariana Grande, Iggy, Katy Perry, and even Coldplay? Only in the USA
 
I think 1,2,3,4,5,10,21,24,27,32,39,40,42,45,47 are worthy of charting in dance. A lot of quality songs missing. A lot of filler on the chart. Some decent crossover songs. We had a solid Top 15 for the year in our Top 98.

I've always said that the chart was more like a Top 40 chart, even with the expansion to 40 songs Billboard made back in December 2014. Maybe its time to separate the Dance Airplay charts with the full time stations reporting as exclusives while the stations who air mix shows get their own chart, or alter the methodology with primary Dance reporters and select dual Rhythmic, Mainstream, and Adult Top 40 stations whose playlist leans or favors Dance product.
