Construction permits and Special Temporary Authorizations (STAs) granted

  • KPNX 12.x Mesa (Multimedia Holdings Corporation) requested and has been granted a construction permit to change its broadcast channel. KPNX's move to RF channel 18 displaces K18DD-D Camp Verde, K18JL-D Phoenix and K18NN-D Globe, so look for those stations to file displacement applications or shut down altogether soon. Technical specifications: Ch 18; TL 33° 20' 0" N, 112° 3' 51" W (South Mtn.); ERP 1000 kW H / Unknown V, directional, 0.75° elec beam tilt; HAAT 535 m. (1,755 ft).
  • KGRF-LD 19.x Gila River Indian Community (Gila River Telecommunications Inc.) has been granted a construction permit to move to channel 21. Technical specifications: Ch 21; TL 33° 22' 37" N, 112° 13' 34" W (Near 75th Ave. & Baseline Rd.); ERP 15 kW (1.5° elec beam tilt); HAAT -19 m. (33 m. AGL).
  • KEJR-LD 40.x (32) Phoenix (TV-49 Inc.) has been granted a modification to its license to move the antenna higher on its tower, to change from a directional broadcast pattern to non-directional, and to change from circular polarization to elliptical. Technical specifications: Ch 32; TL 33° 19' 57" N, 112° 3' 59" W (South Mtn.); ERP 15 kW H / 10.5 kW V, non-directionak, 1° elec beam tilt; HAAT 483 m (1584 ft).
  • KBFY-LD 41.x (2) Fortuna (Jeff Chang) requested and has been granted a construction permit to move its broadcast location from the Gila Pass electronics site to a site atop a building in Yuma. The STA was granted nearly two weeks later; one would think that the construction permit would have rendered it moot. Technical specifications: Ch 2; TL 32° 40' 58" N, 114° 37' 33" W (SW Cor 4th Av/24th St); ERP 0.15 kW H directional; HAAT 43 m (141 ft).
  • KPDF-CD 41.x (22) Phoenix (HC2 Station Group Inc.) has been granted a construction permit to move to a different tower in its current antenna farm and to maximize power from its authorized 12.6 kW H. Technical specifications: Ch 22; TL 33° 20' 4" N, 112° 3' 44" W (South Mtn.); ERP 15 kW H / 15 kW V, non-directional, 1.75° elec beam tilt; HAAT 472 m (1548 ft).
  • KVGA-LD 12.x Las Vegas NV (Digital Networks Southwest-LLC) requested and has been granted a construction permit to relocate its broadcast facilities to Arden Peak outside of Las Vegas. Technical specifications: Ch 12; TL 35° 56' 45" N, 115° 2' 37" W (Arden Peak); ERP 2 kW H directional; HAAT 566 m (1856 ft).

To clarify d, Ch. 14/38 calls their "general music video channel"... Store TV???? WTF??? 🤣

Fact is, the music is just backround noise for the infomercials. They desperately added the videos again because they know they screwed up big time by abandoning the former channel in the first place.

Too little, too late to fix now. Q&H should stop embarrassing themselves, and stop underestimating their viewers as well. In short order, they didn't appreciate what they had until they gutted it. Pathetic! 🤢

From a Vegas-area reader:

Programming Changes
  • KHDF-CD 19.x Las Vegas NV (HC2 Station Group Inc.) has added channel 19.6, airing Shop HQ.

RF 18 must protect co-channel Class A station KFTU-CD, which broadcasts from Mt. Bigelow. Were KFTU a regular low-power station, then it would not be protected, being a secondary service (like K18JL-D Phoenix and K18NN-D Globe, which will be displaced), but KFTU is a Class A low-power station and as such, has spectrum rights with being a primary service, the same as KPNX.
