From All Access Net News(June 9th):

COX RADIO Top40/Rhythmic WBTS(95.5THE BEAT)/ATLANTA is set for ALLSTAR WEEKEND featuring a stellar collection of superstars pulling shifts on THE BEAT. The BEAT staff has the weekend off and jumping in for them are JERMAINE DUPRI, USHER, LUDACRIS, YING YANG TWINS, 50 CENT, MARIAH CAREY, JENNIFER LOPEZ, REV RUN, YOUNGBLOODZ, TRILLVILLE, TLC and BUBBA SPARXXX.

Now that's what I call a lineup!

That's really cool. I wonder if they're all going to be live. Certainly Ludacris can pull a live show as he used to be on the air here, and probably the ones from Atlanta will do so (with a producer?), but what about the ones from out of town?

NO, IT WON'T BE LIVE!

I spoke with Cagle, the PD. None of it will be live. Much of it was taped recently. Some of it is really old, like Mariah Carey and TLC but the Beat will make it sound like it's new with editing. Most of the acts will be on, one hour or two hours. The celebs will be repeated Saturday and Sunday.

Yeah, the TLC should've given it away.

I heard something about T_C doing a reality show to find themselves a new L... so I figured that was a possibility.

Oh, too bad. Most of those acts are local. That would make for a kick-ass promotion if they did it live.

Well if they're going to do that at least put a disclaimer that it has been pre-recorded.

A good portion of weekend programming on many local radio stations is already prerecorded so I can't imagine the Beat would need to say so in this case...

V-103 has a live, all star lineup. The artists from the Vibe Fest are co-hosting dayparts, talking with callers and playing a few songs from their album. And V-103 has branded itself as VIBE 103 for the weekend.

I have been listening all day today because it has been quite interesting. WHTA 107.9 hasn't been good with today's programming and neither has 95.5 The Beat. With the Vibe Fest in town they should be making the most out of what they can. 107.9 was broadcasting from Six Flags today.<P ID="signature">______________
