All-News Scoreboard for Major Markets: June 2015

Summer months may not be good ones for All-News ratings. This is when Top 40 stations see a boost and people are thinking of fun in the sun, not politics, crime and traffic. WTOP Washington was the only clear #1 All-News station this month, although if you add the ratings of both the AM and FM signals for WBBM Chicago, that combo is also #1. (WBBM splits the two signals when it carries baseball games.)

Starting this month, I'll include the Baltimore ratings for WNEW-FM. That station now targets both Washington and Baltimore, with its transmitter in Maryland between the two cities. And in the Knoxville market, a day-only station is going All-News. 1120 WKCE Maryville TN transmits with 1000 watts and signs off at sunset. But using ABC News and other features, it will try an All-News format.

1. New York...WINS #10 ... WCBS #13
2. Los Angeles...KNX #15 tie
3. Chicago...WBBM/WCFS(FM) #1 (WBBM 780 #3 + WCFS 105.9 #18 tie)
4. San Francisco...KCBS/KFRC(FM) #2
5. Dallas...KRLD* #18
6. Houston...No All-News station
7. Washington...WTOP(FM) #1 ... WNEW-FM* #20
8. Philadelphia...KYW #7
9. Atlanta...No All-News station
10. Boston...WBZ* #5
(11. Detroit...WWJ #3)
(13. Seattle...KOMO-AM-FM #22)
(21. Baltimore...WNEW-FM #17 tie)
(25. Pittsburgh...KQV* does not subscribe)

* part-time All-News station

All stations are owned by CBS except WTOP (Hubbard), KOMO (Sinclair) and KQV (Calvary). In parenthesis, I include the ratings for the four large markets with All-News stations outside the top 10 markets.

As you noted, the numbers reflect a seasonal trend. It will be interesting to see how WNEW performs in DC. As a second All Newser, their debut performance for that market isn't too shabby.

Thank you for compiling this list.
