Bad winter weather meant more ratings for All-News stations in February. WBBM Chicago, KCBS San Francisco, WTOP Washington and WWJ Detroit all topped their city's ratings (although I don't think weather was a factor in San Francisco). KYW Philadelphia and WBZ Boston both hit #2. And both NYC All-News stations were in that market's top 10.
Unfortunately, frequent snow in Washington didn't help WNEW-FM much. The station's ratings were only a fraction higher than in the last few books. But WNEW-FM did back away from running two syndicated talk shows all night in place of All-News. The Dave Ramsey Show, largely non-political, will run from 8 - 11pm. But Overnight America, which CBS owns, only ran for one week. Listener feedback prompted WNEW-FM to return to the All-News format in the early hours of the morning. Who thought management would reverse a decision like that?
1. New York...WINS #6 ... WCBS #8 tie
2. Los Angeles...KNX #11
3. Chicago...WBBM/WCFS(FM) #1
4. San Francisco...KCBS/KFRC(FM) #1
5. Dallas...KRLD* #14 tie
6. Houston...No All-News station
7. Washington...WTOP(FM) #1 ... WNEW-FM #20
8. Philadelphia...KYW #2
9. Atlanta...No All-News station
10. Boston...WBZ* #2
(11. Detroit...WWJ #1)
(13. Seattle...KOMO-AM-FM #20)
(25. Pittsburgh...KQV* does not subscribe)
* part-time All-News station
All stations are owned by CBS except WTOP (Hubbard), KOMO (Sinclair) and KQV (Calvary). In parenthesis, I include the ratings for the three All-News stations outside the top 10 markets.
