1580 WUIV towers still there

Maybe if the land isn't being used for anything else, and they aren't a safety issue, no sense in making the effort to remove them? Seems like a good location for cellular but the remaining AM towers likely can't support that.

As long as they don't look as bad as the WLAT towers in Conway SC, which got a lot of comments here before they were finally taken down.

For many years now, only 2 of the original 3 towers remain. Not sure if it fell, or was intentionally removed. They were never tall enough to require lighting, painting. Just the galvanized steel "look". They only look to be 125-150 ft tall? Its last year on the air (circa 1993), it was LMAd by Dave Lingafelt and WUIV simulcasted 1230 WNNC. I'm sure Dave had the option to buy, but decided to buy the more valuable, more established as well as 24-hour 630 WIRC (now WAIZ). WUIV was only a daytimer and directional away from Hickory - to protect adjacent channel 1590 WCSL, Cherryville and 1570 WTLK, Taylorsville.

And probably 1580 WZKY Albemarle too.

I never noticed there were only two towers.
