The Jussie Smollett case went to trial in a court of law where his case was heard, he was given the chance to defend himself, the process of law played out and he was found guilty of 5 out of 6 counts and relatively soon, he'll be sentenced for those charges he was found guilty of. In most cases there are established sentencing guidelines for the judge to follow when determining the appropriate punishment. After nearly starting a civil war jussie should get life in prison so it discourage future incidents using race as a reason.
Regarding your comments about "nearly starting a civil war", that's an overblown exaggeration. Further, if "nearly starting a civil war" was a crime, there are many current and former law enforcement officials, current and former politicians and people who've committed blatant crimes that were caught on camera and are now walking free, who'd be much more deserving of a punishment than Smollett if "nearly starting a civil war" were a true infraction.
