Fresno Radio --- Why it's so ??? "Fresno".

"So bad." It is Fresno Radio - which is second rate and only Bakersfield has more stations broadcasting in Spanish. " It all started at a 5,000 watt AM radio Station in Fresno " -- but it all ended with every station in Fresno broadcasting the same old radio format. 95.7 FM is no longer a music station but a "Morning drive time talk station". 3 or more jerks all talking at once about nothing that anyone really wants to hear.

So what's your rant or thumb.

First, The Fox also has a stale 300 song playlist that they had for over 25 years, same CCR songs, same 4 Steve Miller songs everyday etc.etc,etc.Second no real 80s music stations that plays New Wave Hits like The Cure, Duran Duran, The Psy. Furs, The Clash, The Fixx, Tears For Fear, Simple Minds, Cory Hart, The Bangles, OMD, and etc.,etc,etc, Third A poor programmed KKBZ 105.1, doesnt play alot of older music anymore, No Def Leppard, Poison, Bon Jovi, and etc.,etc., etc, were dropped, but you can hear Volbeat every fn hour.

Yet The Fox has increased revenue over the post recession years while the market as a whole has declined slightly. Obviously, their formula works.

In a market that is 70% ethnic, rhythmic music rules. Obviously, no owner sees a profitable niche in 80's hits.

KKBZ is very signal challenged. It's primary 70 dbu signal only reaches 19,000 persons, and even the 60 dbu misses about 40% of the market. Yet Lotus, who has been running successful rockers in similarly sized markets back to the 70's, has managed to make it a decent biller considering its lesser signal.

Ok, now you can change it to more, but not really much more. If 95.7 was classic hits, 99.7 was strong in Fresno, and 105.1 was a simulcast of The Bear, I would be reasonably happy.

A classic country even on AM is too much to ask, and it's not cumulus or iheart's fault current country doesn't actually exist.

We're seeing this in a lot of places, where residents don't understand that what they hear on the radio is indicative of demographic shifts in their own community. The folks in Houston or Atlanta can't understand why there's no Oldies stations, but there are multiple urban and rhythmic stations. It's because the population changed, and they didn't notice. The former majority is now in the minority. Whoops.

Yes, KBRE 1660 AM/ 105.7 lpFM The Bear Merced is programmed much better than 105.1, they have a much bigger Classic Rock library, mixed with the current rock.

Programmers generally do not determine formats... owners do.
 
Does KMMT from Mammoth Lakes still get in to Fresno on 106.5 or has it been covered up by translators? Last time I heard them they were doing some cool stuff.

YES!! I hate that annoying stupid laugh that takes up most of the program. I'd rather listen to fingernails down a blackboard!
 
Fresno needs a station like "The River" Some former Jack stations ran by CC switched to that and play 70, 80, 90, and some Millennium rock, The FOX and The Blaze needs some competition, we have two rivers The San Joaquin and the Kings so do we call it the Rivers LOL.

Yes! I like 105.5 KRVR The River. Good station that serves the north valley (Merced/Atwater to Lodi)
