After a rough week of outrage and lost jobs for Kathy Griffin, she's found a couple of famous friends in her corner.
A couple of days after Jim Carrey said it is a comedian's duty to cross the line, Alec Baldwin took to Twitter late Friday to defend the beleaguered comedian.
Griffin came under fire Tuesday for posing with a fake, severed Trump head in a photo shoot. She has since apologized, but after continued blowback, Griffin held a press conference Friday, where she said the president and his family "are trying to ruin my life forever.” (Few thought the additional publicity helped.)
The brouhaha brought back memories of 1998 for Baldwin, who was famously castigated for going on Conan O'Brien's show and ranting about stoning GOP Congressman Henry Hyde and his family to death. At the time, Hyde, who died in 2007, was one of many conservatives leading the charge to impeach Bill Clinton.
"Dear Kathy Griffin, Kathy....baby...I've been there," Baldwin tweeted. "The whole Henry Hyde thing w Conan, where we bring out an oxygen mask at the end? a joke. That's what I thought. That's what we intended. No one walked out of the studio and said, "No! We're serious!" No one."

He continued: "but all your gutless, weasels in the GOP insisted that I actually threatened Hyde. They played the victim beautifully. Kathy...(screw) them. (Screw) them all. No 1 believes u meant 2 threaten Trump. Trump is such a senile idiot, all he has is Twitter fights. ignore him. Like the leaders of all the other countries in the world. Ignore him."
