Bring back christmas music on wbz!

I feel that WBZ News Radio 1030 should revive its annual Christmas festival of music on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. They can start by playing their version of "A Christmas Carol" after the 7 p.m. News on Christmas Eve, then start their Christmas music at 8 p.m. and continue it until at least 5 a.m. on the morning after Christmas. It's a chance to get re-acquainted with the best of old and new Christmas music. Any thoughts or comments?

Not allowed. Haven't paid their fees in years.

Yes, but WHY???

Why can't Boston support a smooth jazz outlet?

There were some formats that didn't seem to do well in the transition to the PPM methodology....Classical music, Jazz, talk formats, talky morning shows....didn't seem to 'encode' well.

Quiet, bassy tones, etc. I don't know if this got resolved with a new algorithm or with Voltaire.

Certain styles of music, etc and criticism is here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portable_People_Meter#Criticism

Has been tried before--The Oasis (WOAZ?), WSJZ etc. WJIB 96.9 had been beautiful music, then went to smooth jazz as WCDJ. Greater Media switched 96.9 to country as WBCS...and by 97, it went to smooth jazz as WSJZ. Finally in 1999
GM decided to make 96.9 a talker (WTKK 96.9 FM Talk) and there was a brief period where they added a national
morning show but were still jazz ("Imus in the Morning, Smooth Jazz All Day") before talk hosts like Jay Severin came
about.
There are options for smooth jazz online, like this one by former WMWM jazz DJ Brian Vita

I remember in the Boston Herald the headline something like "Rough Talk Replaces Smooth Jazz."

When WCDJ was smooth jazz, it was still the era of ratings diaries. For whatever reason, I was chosen to get a diary every other month for 6 months (3 diaries over the 6 months). I loved WCDJ, and every time I'd fill out my diary indicating I listened basically all day at work, their ratings would go up a point or two. Then the next month, when I didn't have a diary, their rating would go down a point or two. My neighbor across the street worked for Greater Media, and I asked him how the jazz station was doing...and he'd reply "we can't figure it out, the ratings keep going up and down every month"
