Health issues were an issue

Longtime Houston Anchor Dave Ward retired in December, but he never got the chance to say goodbye.

After anchoring the news for 50 years, when it came time to say goodbye, Ward's health took a turn for the worse and he was in the hospital.

Well....now he's going to finally get to say goodbye and of course the station is waiting for the May book to start before he does it.

Mike McGuff says that Ward will appear on KTRK's May 2nd 6PM newscast to say goodbye.

The day after he signs off from the KTRK newsdesk, Ward will be honored by Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner.

They were supposed to air a special back in December... my TiVo recorded the time slot, but it was some bulls*** instead... I was pissed, because I assumed the special would be one of those things that they air once, and then never freaking again.

Did they ever actually produce a special? Did they air it in May, or ever?
