Australian couple become first foreigners to own US radio stations

A couple with Australian citizenship have become the first foreigners to own
American radio stations.

The deal was unopposed, and comes after years of lobbying by the industry for the FCC to relax
investment rules which were felt to be too restrictive.

The fact that they are Aussies (who plan to become US citizens) helped I think. If the buyers were
from a less friendly country (or, God Forbid, RUSSIA) there would be screaming and gnashing of teeth.

If Melanie Griffith is still with that M&A firm in New York she needs to find herself a new angle.

Article mentions that the couple has investments in a group called Frontier Media the ones that own the stations in Alaska.

Yes. They had a minority stake in Frontier Media.
They bought the rest of the company, which is something the FCC would have never
approved in the past.
