Wikileaks claims MI5 and CIA developed spyware to turn Samsung TVs into bugs

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/201...s-mi5-cia-developed-spyware-turn-samsung-tvs/

What???? I have a Samsung TV and I attached a chromebit to convert it into a computer.

The CIA and MI5 worked together developing viruses designed to turn Samsung smart TVs into household bugs, recording audio and sending data to covert computer servers, according to a new cache of leaked intelligence documents published by Wikileaks.

The group claims it is the largest ever release of CIA files.

Among the 8,761 documents of the “Vault 7” leak are papers describing “weaponised” malware directed at iPhone and Android users, designed to bypass encryption used by popular apps such as Confide.

but Come on here why would the CIA and MI5 force Samsung into another Scandal??

Wonder if they have this TV in the White House or Trump Tower.

Note I don't know for sure if it has been verified or not. But the event of the past two days where the President claim to be a victim of a wire tap and then 48 hours later WikiLeaks release alleged stuff? Note we don't know how connected they are or how related WikiLeaks have with the President or alleged conflicts of interests. That stuff would be verified later. I don't know if the stuff I just read was really true though.

Then again 16 years after 9/11 more electronics connect to the internet. All devices we have now are bound to have bugs and all of us in some form have to take precautions with our devices.

But really nobody is really going to get rid of their tv's. All the newer TV's I can think of do connect to the internet and pickup wifi signals. Nobody is really going to throw away their TV's because of what the president or Wikileaks said unless the TV's start exploding exactly the same way as Samsung Phones did last year.

Kind of gives new meaning to, "You watch too much television.". Pays to keep your fillings polished, because you just never know....

Sorry, I couldn't resist.

and now this comes out at the same time. Note they sound fishy and related but we are calling it unrelated events for now.

Wonder if they have this TV in the White House or Trump Tower.

Two senators have asked the Department of Justice and FBI for any information they have related to President Donald Trump's accusation that President Barack Obama wiretapped him ahead of the 2016 election.

Trump has provided no evidence to back the explosive claim, and a spokesperson for Obama has denied that the former president ordered a tap. The White House has asked the congressional intelligence committees to investigate Trump's allegation.

In a letter Wednesday, Sens. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., and Sheldon Whitehouse, D-R.I., requested that the Justice Department "provide us copies of any warrant applications or court orders ... related to wiretaps" of Trump, his campaign or Trump Tower. The senators serve on the Senate Judiciary Committee's Subcommittee on Crime and Terrorism, which has oversight of the Justice Department's criminal division.

"As chairman and ranking member of the Senate Judiciary Committee's Subcommittee on Crime and Terrorism, we would take any abuse of wiretapping authorities for political purposes very seriously. We would be equally alarmed to learn that a court found enough evidence of criminal activity or contact with a foreign power to legally authorize a wiretap of President Trump, the Trump campaign, or Trump Tower," the senators wrote in a letter to Acting Deputy Attorney General Dana Boente and FBI Director James Comey.

Trump on Saturday accused Obama of tapping his phones "during the very sacred election process." He compared it to President Richard Nixon and the Watergate scandal.

Since then, though, Trump aides have not pointed to any specific evidence to back his claim. Comey reportedly asked the Justice Department to publicly reject the assertion, while the chairmen of both the House and Senate intelligence committees have said they have not seen evidence to support it.

In the letter, Graham and Whitehouse emphasized that they sought documents "redacted as necessary to protect intelligence sources and method that may be compromised by disclosure and to protect any ongoing investigations." Later Wednesday, Graham told MSNBC that he would subpoena for the information if officials do not provide it.

"There's no reason for them not to give it to us," Graham said. He added that he currently has "no knowledge" to back up Trump's claims.

There is the New York Times which reported that their information was coming from wiretaps, before they reported that there was no evidence of wiretaps; and all media were reporting the same news - pretty much verbatim. Granted, they were communicating with each other, but they did it on our airwaves in our air space.

When asked if Trump was being investigated, the Justice Department said "no comment."

AFAIK, neither President is being investigated for wiretapping, because no one can see any basis for such an investigation.

True though but some news outlets claim a connection between Wikileaks and the Trump Cabinet as in these two links. But then again we need the Justice Department and Congress to verify this new allegation.

See theres so many side issues on this. On one hand this was originally about TV's and Tablets allegedly having security issues and then later the allegations of a wiretap came into play in Trump Tower and the oval office.
