KABC La Cienega Towers

After the move to WW 1 in Culver City, KABC was still transmitting from the La Cienega site. Work on the KWKW gear is near completion to accommodate the 790 signal. It looks like the 2 towers on La Cienega will start to come down on Monday. If you are interested, best viewing should be on the top floor of the Expo Line parking garage on the SE corner of La Cienega & Jefferson. No start time is known by me at this time.

KABC got 5kw non-D day, and an STA for 3.5kw non-D nights. Their authorization is for 5kw DA-N, but for some reason they're not ready to make that happen. Lotus is quite the landlord with their KWKW sticks: 7~Ninety and 13~Thirty now. 15~Hundred once all hurdles are cleared. Is this some kind of record for diplexing? Or is it triplexing?

LA already has 1580, 1230 and 930 all on the towers off Alvarado just east of the 101 Freeway.

While not directional, Hawaii is noted for having most of its AMs three and four to a tower. And the "master antenna" sites in Cuba apparently have up to 6 stations on a tower, using multipexers developed in China.

And just a mile or two from my home, we have a multiplex with 12... uh, theaters. Same concept, no?

There is an application to raise power, that appears to fairly well make up the difference from the old site.

What's interesting about KWIF's night pattern is the use of four towers. Well, not exactly: two towers and two vertical wires. All that pumping 150 watts into Culver City!

Insert rimshot (drum, not far away FM signal) here
