He has been pestering Stern's people for the past year or so...annoying Howard enough he "closed off" his area to the rest of the non Howard 100 staff (I think Opie and Howard are on the same floor).
Here's hoping this is a ploy to get himself fired and bow out as gracefully as possible without finishing his contract. A lot of folks (myself included) feel hearing Opie implode in the last two years and his angry reaction to criticism/demotions is almost as exciting as watching WBAI in-fighting. You just know eventually it will explode in his face and you want to be there to see it happen.
He has been exceptionally salty recently about losing the self-named channel, having Jason Ellis (an arch-nemisis) taking over the branding, having his former intern taking his morning show over, and his moving to afternoons.
What's next? Going to Anthony with his hat in his hand for an O&A reunion 1-2 times/week?
