GMR Fires Back At RMLC: They’re Lying

The mud is slinging between Irving Azoff’s Global Music Rights*(GMR)*and the*Radio Music Licensing Committee (RMLC).* In reaction to*an “urgent message” sent Monday (1/9) to broadcasters informing them that it is receiving “troubling reports from a number of station operators who have received interim fee license quotes from GMR,” Read more at #LoE7RsTA6oo79Zax.99 Following the news […]

GMR really could benefit by hiring someone from one of the established PROs. This reminds me of the situation SESAC was in during the 90s. Some smaller stations refused to pay for SESAC songs, didn't play them, and as a result, SESAC songs rarely achieved #1. We could see that kind of blowback for GMR. They're insisting on dealing with each station individually, and that's a very expensive, inefficient system that won't benefit their writers if some stations refrain from playing their music. Meanwhile, they obviously haven't made friends with the RMLC, who could make their job so much easier. They come off as being very arrogant, which isn't the way to get people to pay money.
