Unless someone with major influence at WOGL is friendlier with Marilyn than he/she is with Valerie, money is really the only possible answer. Philly's Classic Hits listeners liked Valerie and aren't likely too familiar with Marilyn. Why rock the boat at all if not for some savings?
 
And if money is an issue, why was Marilyn let go from Beasley? Is Matt cheaper over at Ben than she was?

I have to assume that she was based on her tenure not only with the company, but in the market.
