A new move-in?

If you had traveled 515 between Jasper and Ellijay the last couple of weeks you might noticed the new 101.1 tower complete with lighting at night on the west site of the highway. Still a C3 without much coverage south of 285:

This might be another move in as there is a big RF hole between 100.5 and 101.5.

Once someone figures out where to move WTGA Thomaston, a directional antenna should be able to protect WROQ + WVVL. Mr. Dobbs once owned 105.7 and leased and eventually sold it to CC (now Iheart) so I suspect a repeat performance only this time with CBS Radio or Entercom.

Even if this operation stays north of the ATL, I fell the W266BW-FM 101.1 MHz
Winder, Georgia will not work very well on 101.1.

WCON-FM 99.3 has a better chance of moving in (they recently upped their power to 100K)

WCON has to contend with 99.7 as a second-adjacent. Did you check the first- and second-adjacents for WLJA?

I've noticed W266BW barely comes in at all anymore near Stone Mountain. Radio Locator still has it on top of Stone Mountain. Did it move? Whatever happened to W249CK 97.7 Duluth moving to 92.5? WCON is about as Southern of a radio station as they get with a mix of gospel and country. Is Cornelia going to ever be able to let this station go? It comes in very clear east of town with a similar coverage area as WNGC 106.1.

With everything that Cox has been loading onto TOSOTR 97.7 (G-Braves and the Gladiators), and with their desire to get everything off of the River/WSBB/TOSOTR Chateau Elan tower, I'm surprised that Cox hasn't made the 92.5 move at the very least.

The first adjacent channels are OK with WAGH 101.3 closest to the south:

and WCJM on 100.9 also to the south

The second adjacent (101.5) has Kicks 101.5 (C0) and WNNX 100.5. If the FCC allowed 107.5 and 107.9 with approx. 45 miles separation and 97.1 (C) / 97.5 and 105.3 / 105.7 both with around 60 miles separation* there might be some wiggle room. I bet he has another move or a power increase in mind. When Mr. Dobbs first moved 105.7, it was on a tower near sixes road. Later it got moved to Sweat Mountain.

*based off of city of license from radio-locator, your mileage may vary.

WNNX 100.5 is only a third-adjacent (I've made that mistake before :) ). Second-adjacent would be 100.7; WUSY in Chattanooga comes to mind, but that's in the other direction.

I just noticed the CP for 97.1 to get off the Chateau Elan tower has disappeared or been allowed to lapse. It was filed and accepted but no extensions were asked for.

I thought that tower had some very expensive issues to fix. I guess they are going to stay on it for a while.

InSite, who owns the tower, will drop some dimes on a new lighting system and elevator maintenance. After 30+ years, this isn't surprising. The elevator is a money saver for tenants, whether InSite as a leasor can command a premium rental for it being there, I don't know. If they can't, it will simply come off. They're slowly converting all their properties to LED lighting, there's substantial savings in operation and maintenance costs over the current strobe system.

When did InSite purchase the tower?

There is a rumor going around that there are two PSI one bays, tuned to 101.1, sitting at Richland Tower/American Tower/Briarcliff Rd. It sounds like it is coming soon...

Well, I have a new tower to visit on Saturday, thanks to Second Choice.

As geeky as I am, who would have thought I would be able to see the WSB-AM tower from my front lawn, which is the case? I used to pick them up in Baltimore at night as a kid.

Roddy, your lawn is in the shopping center parking lot?

I just drove by the new 101.1 WLJA tower the first time in daylight yesterday. I could not see the antenna mounted to the top. The CP on the FCC website states they will use a 4 bay ERI rototiller antenna which should be visible when driving by. I am surprised they didn’t have the antenna installed during the construction of the tower.
