September 2016 Boston Radio Ratings.

Where is the summer ratings data? The papers usually have the demographic breakdown.

Arbitron limits numeric share data to 6+ or 12+ data. 18-34 and 25-54 data allowed when it is non-specific in the form of rankers for the top stations only.

Chad Finn details the sports radio ratings battle between WEEI-FM + WBZ-FM from 6/16/16 - 9/7/16 at the link below:

https://www.bostonglobe.com/sports/...dio-ratings/71OXe2L1A5xl09Nf9lNvRL/story.html

Since the September 2016 survey period ran from Aug. 11 - Sept. 7, 2016, no regular season NFL game broadcasts were included. Thus, no worries for Patriots flagship WBZ-FM.
Plus after reading Chad Finn's piece from above, it can be seen that WBZ-FM is ahead of WEEI-FM in the important age 25-54 male demo in most dayparts
other than evenings where (understandably) WEEI-FM ruled with (mostly) Red Sox broadcasts. In general, WBZ-FM skews younger than WEEI-FM.

Indeed Toucher and Rich were boasting of being the top sports station again (on facebook) and I thought, in the desirable demo, yes.
Note that WEEI 850 came in 43rd.For years they got great ratings at 850 but when Sports Hub came along they migrated to FM (2 years later) and stuck ESPN on the AM and get at least some money for that.

When Red Sox won world series in 04 and 07 people in crowd held signs Go Red Sox--WEEI 850 (or WRKO, in the case of 07, as most games aired there).Sports Hub debuted in Aug of 09. WEEI made the move to FM on Sept 12, 2011. I remember because it was a Monday, the day after the 10th anniversary of 9-11 was solemnly observed.

For that matter I think in 09, the arrival of Sports Hub made WEEI abruptly change from their plan of having most Sox games on WRKO.They were all put on WEEI.Mike 93.7
was doing well from 09 to 11 but steadily losing to 98.5 eventually convinced Entercom to put EEI on FM.

Maybe hoping against hope, Entercom was slow on the trigger.Imagine this:

WEEI Moving To FM
Boston Globe, July 28,2009
It looks like Entercom has beaten CBS to the punch. After CBS was announcing the creation of an all sports station on FM that is to debut Aug 13, Entercom announced Mike 93.7 will simulcast WEEI 850 starting Aug 1.
"WEEI-FM" will become Boston's first FM all sports station..
--'
Instead they waited two years.Who knows, even if both were on FM from 09 on,people may have preferred WBZ-FM for its programming anyway.

John Dennis and now Kirk Minihane have argued that their audience skews slightly older (35+) and that is better for sales because of listener's income. Is that true? I heard Minihane claim on his podcast that his show bills more than T&R even though T&R's ratings are higher.
