Agree - Rock 100.5 could position itself as a mainstream rock station that plays the "dinosaurs" and more 2ks including Godsmack, Trapt, Three Days Grace and many other artists that made 105.3 The Buzz and later Project 96.1 popular. Active Rock is not doing well right now. It has not done well since the trend to alternative came back into the picture in 2012. Many active rock stations that still exist sneak in true alternative artists in the new music list vs many of the active rock new songs that really have no traction.
Rock 100.5 could still do some new music (post 2012) but keep it limited to the bigger bands/songs. If Rock 100.5 wanted to stick to classic rock, they would need to dig deeper and go more album to compete with the classic "HiTs" on 97.1 The River. If they can't dig deeper than they currently do with classic rock, they need to widen the library and incorporate more active rock artists form the 2ks (pre 2010) with a light dusting of newer music from bigger artists.
If I'm not mistaken, Rock 100.5 is approaching 10 years old. Mind you, it's been "quality rock", "active rock", "mainstream rock" and "classic rock" and they have switched multiple times in that 10 years but it has been some form of rock since shortly after 96 Rock hit the dust. Their ratings have stayed steady around 2.0 this entire time. Even though the shares are crappy, they must be making money.
