Sherman/Denison Ratings

Since there always seems to be a fair degree of interest in the Texoma area on this board, here are the latest numbers for Sherman/Dension from the Eastlan Ratings company, which focuses on smaller markets not rated by Nielsen (though they have added a few larger Nielsen markets with disgruntled ex-Nielsen subscribers over the last year.)

Sherman/Denison is measured once a year in the Spring.

1. KMAD 6.8 - 8.2
2. KMKT 6.2 - 7.8
3. WBAP 8.1 - 6.4
4. KLAK 4.5 - 5.7
5. KQDR 2.7 - 4.1
6. KHKS 3.5 - 3.8
7. KLBC 3.2 - 3.5
8. KPLX 3.2 - 3.4
9. KDGE 1.4 - 3.1
10. KEGL 2.9 - 2.2
10. KYDA 1.2 - 2.2

Man KXEZ has plummeted in the ratings up there, they fell from a 1.5 in 2014, to a 0.8 in '15, and now to a 0.5.

Also worth noting is that stations near the bottom of the heap tend to wobble much more than the larger-audience stations.

I wonder if the wobble is a result of different survey areas and the difficult reception that Texoma has, or if it is just a natural variation. I notice most of the bottom rated stations would be considered distant reception at best for many parts of Texoma.

KXEZ's six year trend has been: 0.6 - 0.6 - 0.5 - 1.5 - 0.8 - 0.5. 2014's 1.5 share was the outlier.

just wondering, why are we discussing Sherman/Denison area stations in the DFW section and not the "Radio In Texas" section, is it due to the fact that Sherman/Denison radio market is a small market inside a much larger market thus making it a submarket.

in fact should we also talk about the other small markets radio stations that are cluster within the DFW radio market or do these topics belong in the Radio in Texas section.

As dead as the DFW board is I doubt anyone minds. Historically the DFW board has always lightly discussed Waco and Sherman since they are so close and have some signal overlap. The Texas board usually hits up the Tyler area but it really just depends whats going on at the time.

Give Texoma credit for knowing KDGE was on its deathbed and spiking its listenership.
