Greater Media never executed this flip all that well, but I think, more than anything, this demonstrates that, even in a sports crazy market like Detroit, there really is only room for one full time sports talker, and the one that will succeed is more than likely the one that carries the local baseball team. There are exceptions to this, of course, and I think ESPN will search for an outlet to clear its radio content in the market, but there are only so many people who will tune into sports talk, or something marketed as sports talk (at least half of the discussion on 97.1 is other than sports). 105.1 was done when they didn't win the Tigers broadcasts.
The Pistons will be staying with 105.1 for the final year of their contract.
