Questionable Move by Michigan Radio

http://www.deadlinedetroit.com/arti...st_to_wish_israel_happy_birthday#.VzMvjzZf3L8

Doesn't seem like wishing happy birthday to a country should be that controversial. More evidence of the inherent bias of public radio.

Oh, c'mon. Bias? The article to which you posted the link and should have read stated clearly the station's policy limits announcements to "personal events." Maybe you could claim "bias," if they ran "Happy Birthday, Palestine" but not "Happy Birthday, Israel." They won't even run "Happy Birthday, Norway," as the article clearly stated.

The only bias here is your "inherent bias" against public radio.

And the so-called "Michigan Radio" is not a "statewide network." It is not operated by the state and it does not reach most of the state. It is an Ann Arbor station with repeaters in Flint and Grand Rapids. Other states do have statewide public radio networks (Wisconsin, Minnesota, New Hampshire, Vermont... off the top of my head, among others). Not Michigan. Michigan has multiple, independent public radio services. Most of them are operated by the state's various major universities.
