Los Angeles AM Sells for Millions

Multicultural Radio Broadcasting wants to sell KYPA(AM), Los Angeles.

At $6.2 million, I wonder if this is perhaps the highest price ever paid for one of the old "Class IV" AM stations?

The highest prices I see on what are now Class C stations are

WSBC Chicago $5.5 million
WTTB Vero Beach $5.1 million
WDTK Detroit $ $4.75 million
KEZY San Berdoo $4.0 million

All of those were late 90's or early 2000's deals, the most recent, Detroit, being 12 years ago.

A Beast-ly Price For KYPA

$6.2m for 12~Thirty KYPA, compared to $8m for 9~Eighty, The Beast. YIKES! There's gotta be a lot of $$ in Korean programming. Plus the seller (Multicultural) gets $6.5k per month in tower lease payments for 10 years...that adds an additional $780,000 to the deal. KYPA is one of very few directional graveyard stations.
