Best Freeware for both Mac & PC

Hello, friends,

Half of my students are on Macs, and the rest are on PCs. What freeware can you get for BOTH the Mac & PC platforms that would be best to teach them basic audio editing?

Some actually attended high schools where they learned Pro Tools, and others are into Garage Band. Personally, I use Cool Edit Pro at home and Adobe Audition at work.

For BASIC audio editing either in PC and MAC I'll use Audacity, it's freeware, stable and makes the basic tasks http://www.audacityteam.org
