Jackie Brush to host 'A' Train on WUMB

WUMB-FM 91.9 has named Jackie Brush the new permanent host of the Sunday morning speciality show starting tomorrow morning. I heard a promo for the show today and it sounds like it is going to be focused primarily on Jazz. Jackie was the long time host of Sunday Morning Jazz @ WMJX years ago.

The show was hosted by Lisa Garvey who was let go a couple of months back. When Lisa started the show, it was an eclectic mix of Jazz, Soul, and R&B.

Apparently, she is staying with Magic on weekends, she has both stations listed on her Facebook page. She just added the WUMB thing 6 hours ago.

I loved and miss Lisa Garvey, but loved Jackie's show Sunday. I think she was a smash.

When was the last time she was on the air at WMJX? They tend to leave staff bio's up there for the weekenders, even when they have not been doing air shifts.

Less than a year after Jackie Brush took over 'A' train, it looks like she is not only out but the show is gone as well. I heard a promo this morning for the return of Acoustic Sunrise starting Sunday May 1st from 8 a.m. - Noon.

IIRC, this was a long time program at WUMB hosted by Dick Pleasants and a few others before Lisa Garvey started 'A' Train.

I heard a promo with a new host announced for the reinstated "Acoustic Sunrise" (can't remember the name).

It looks like 'UMB also cut back Holly Harris' blues show from 4 hours to 2, and it now ends at 10pm Too bad, Holly's show is really great and was perfect for late Saturday night listening.

There's been a number of changes recently at WUMB.

The Traditional Folk show previously on Sunday evenings was moved to Saturday nights at 10 p.m. (I believe it used to be a 3-hour show on Sunday's).

The public affairs programming on Sunday evening was moved to Sunday mornings. In the place of these shows that previously occupied Sunday evenings is a rebroadcast of Highway 61 revisited.

And the weekday schedule has been tweaked so that everyone has a 4-hour on air shift.
