Fox To Launch All News Channel on SiriusXM

Apparently it will be all news radio - not all news TV audio like CNN Headline News once had. And it won't be offered to terrestrial stations

Fox News radio service coming to SiriusXM

Political talking heads need not apply to Fox News Headlines 24/7, coming to SiriusXM satellite radio

Interesting...these kinds of national branding things have become less attractive to OTA radio. Premiere has the broadcast radio syndication rights to Fox News. They offer regular TOH news. I imagine some of that staff will be utilized here.

Branding is a huge part of SiriusXM's strategy, especially on the news/sports/entertainment channels. It doesn't just have a couple of comedy channels; it has Comedy Central Radio and Larry the Cable Guy's Comedy Roundup (or something like that). It doesn't have sports talk channels; it has Bleacher Report Radio and MLB Network Radio. It doesn't just have a business channel; it has Business Radio Powered by The Wharton School.

Fox is very good on breaking, non-political news. It will be interesting, though, to see whether it tries to approach breaking political news straight down the middle -- as the nation's only 24/7 radio-only newscast should be obliged to -- or spin it
