Interesting article here in light of all the discussions regarding whether artists are being compensated fairly on streaming services like Spotify in terms of royalty payments. This Verge article gives an overview of the Sony/Spotify contract, and reports it contained up to $45 million in advances to Sony, and it's unclear if those advances were distributed in any way to artists.
