88.5 WXPN morning show host Michaela Majoun to sign off for good in June

That article is the most egregious example of a femi-nazi puff piece. Obviously "sisterhood" trumps journalism at today's Inky.

"Screen writing career?" But no entries for her IMDB.
"Championing female musicianship." That says it.

And they quote Roger LeMay, now running for re-election on the NPR board despite the fact that this station takes nothing from NPR (and champions female musicianship instead of running Morning Edition). Roger LeMay is a former Ailes and Murdoch lackey, which should disqualify from any involvement in public broadcasting.

WXPN continues to hover just above a 1 share, well behind WHYY-FM and even WRTI with its mixed bag of jazz and classical. They are even behind Julius' favorite radio station, WPHT, and are the lowest rated non-rimshot station in the market. Only in PC land does this count as success.

XPN has built a pretty good brand for themselves despite all those things. It's a niche product.

Not to mention you're all over the place with the insults. You use femi-nazi in one paragraph and bash Roger Ailes in the next. It's hard to keep up with it.

This is a radio discussion site. Does the word femi-nazi even need to be here? Leave your politics at the door before you come here.

You guys don't like the term. Your privilege. But clearly this departing DJ had an agenda, as did the two female reporters who wrote the article in the paper. That's how politics entered the door.

Raven, send me a PM and I'll be happy to explain things to help you keep up.

It's a ludicrous set of arguments. Someone is disqualified from running the station because they once held a different job? That someone doesn't have a listing in IMDB somehow means they weren't pursuing a career in screen writing? That someone who stands up for something important to them is somehow doing something wrong?

Roger LeMay has done excellent work at XPN. He & his team are pleasant, professional people very dedicated to building and sustaining a unique public radio station and expanding its reach through concerts, World Cafe, the NonCommvention, etc.

Michaela's "agenda?" The station has a women's music program and she was passionate about it. There's nothing subversive about that. The article simply articulates her accomplishments, interests & role at XPN. I wish her well in her future endeavors.
