Congress Approves CPB funding through 2018

Current.org reports both houses have approved "forward funding" for the Committee for Public Broadcasting through 2018 and beyond. The move is intended to know how much federal money is coming and to plan accordingly. In 2018, CPB is expected to get $453-million (less than 1.2 per cent of the planned federal budget for that year). Currently a little over 14 per cent of CPB's government money goes to public radio stations (none directly to NPR or other networks). Additional money goes to various program and production grants.
