BANG 545 Might Get Better Ratings

The Ho-Ho-Holiday ratings are a joke...except to KEZ and KOAI. But TMISU have gotta be wondering What in the Wide, Wide World of Sports is a goin' on with News 92~Three. In case you haven't noticed, they've been on a downward spiral for the past three months. And beaten quite unmercifully in the all un-important 6+ numbers by KFWhyEye.

What gives? Well, the Nurse and I think one only has to listen to that station to realize what an audio train wreck it is. Mornings start strong with news, but then it's the headache inducing Bruce & Pamela. Then the Bard of beans and rice; rice and beans, Dave Ramsey, comes along for two hours. After the hillbillies leave, it's Goofball time with Mac 'n Gaydos, followed by an hour of news at 6pm. Too bad the actual demand for news at that time is about 3 minutes. If you didn't have enough of Dave Ramsey at Noon, you get another two hours at 7pm. And hold on to your bola tie...it's Jim Bohannon at 9p.

Jim Bohannon? YIKES!

Therefore, the Middle Eastern Men of the Media think BANG 545 might bring better ratings against 5~Fifty. And in stereo...something the other guys can't do.

Absent taking on-air phone calls from listeners -- gee, now there's a novel concept for a news/talk station (seems to work for 550) -- one of the few Hail Marys for the station is to flip to all-sports (it not like they don't want to) or to all-financial. Given their apparent obsession with Ramsey and brokered crap infomercials, I would the bet the latter's the more likely scenario for them. KFYI couldn't make the money format sustainable, so KTAR - having essentially thrown in the towel on bona fide 'talk radio' like other markets have -- will go for broke with it. Thankfully, we've still got KJZZ and KWSS-LP and KOOL -- the only terrestrials in the town who act like they WANT listeners.

You've forgotten "Radio Active" and "The Source", when Mac 'n Gaydos allow listener participation under the guise of something else. But the lack of phone calls isn't the problem, it's the stupid programming.

Ten Four that, Doc; when we drive to the valley, we only listen to 92~3 for one the top of the hour news brief. But mostly, it's just for an overall valley traffic update.
Then we switch to something else... Their old know-it-all talk is just too aggravating.

I gotta wonder how embarrassed Bonneville must be at a time when the eyes and ears of all the VIP's flying into town are greeted with Ramsey (who is neither live nor local) and their remaining no-caller hosts. Compare that with the last time we hosted the Super Bowl and the now-household names who went on to bigger things -- I think it's safe to say everyone at Bonneville will still be working there once the VIP's are long gone. Not a "flagship radio" moment for Phoenix, and the very week we could use one.

KDKB sure lost this listener when they went to that alternative garbage.

KDKB is up in revenue and ratings and so are KSLX and KUPD.

And at least one of the three still plays BANG 545! Imagine the revenue and ratings potential if the others did.

YIKES!
