Is The Ticket's Dominance Coming To An End?

They're crediting The Fan's recent victories to being the Cowboys' flagship. But ESPN's numbers have significantly increased as well. It will be interesting to see how things go now that the Cowboys' season is over.

In short, no.

Those numbers are heavily skewed by The Fan carrying Cowboys games. If you look at numbers that actually matter (weekday listenership) The Fan's ratings are a joke.

I bet it chaps Barry Horn's arse to no end that the DMN has a partnership with the Ticket. He's been critical of the Ticket from the beginning.

The Fan is like Time Warner Cable. They are saying their competitors are a joke but in all honesty, they're the joke.

I don't see ESPN being all like "The Ticket doesn't do this! ESPN does!" I think the Fan needs to shut up.

Re:

The Ticket's dominance (if we are talking men 25-54 audience share at large, not just relative rankings between the three sports stations) came to an end a long time ago, I suspect. Certainly, their 6+ numbers over the last year have dropped substantially compared to historical levels. Overall, their AQH share is down about 30% - 40% compared to a few years ago.

The Ticket hasn't just been losing listeners to 105.3 or 103.3. I suspect a sizable amount of that audience share erosion was caused by 97.1 KEGL. The Eagle has been posting impressive numbers in the Men 25-54 demographic as of late.

Why would they? ESPN 103.3 is owned by Cumulus - the same company that owns 1310/96.7.
