Evanov denied new station in Brechin-Ramara

An application by the Evanov Radio Group (aka: Dufferin Communications) for a new Soft AC station in Brechin-Ramara, Ontario was rejected by the CRTC today. The new station would have operated on 96.9 with 8,900 watts (25,000 watts maximum ERP).

The CRTC expressed concern that the proposed station would have an undue negative impact on existing stations serving the neighbouring markets of Orillia, Bracebridge and Gravenhurst.

CRTC DECISION:

If Bell were to ever decide to sell CKLY (93.9 BOB FM), that would boost Evanov's chances of both owning 93.9 and being granted a licence for 96.9FM, maybe...?
(With 96.9 leaning in a Jewel FM direction, Bob FM sounding pretty much the same, I'm guessing...)
