WHFS calls sold

CBS has sold WHFS FM in West Palm Beach. Why did they ever park the calls just to sell them years later? What does this do to the 10w HFS in Towson?

The West Palm Beach station became WUUB in 2012, when CBS divested itself of the station. It's currently "ESPN 106.3", owned by Good Karma Broadcasting LLC.

The WHFS calls (AM and FM) currently reside on a CBS owned Sports Talk duo in Tampa/St. Petersburg FL (and have for some time now).

These stations will soon be traded away in a swap with Beasley Broadcasting. Not sure what happens to the calls at that point (CBS may park 'em elsewhere before the swap).

Though branded as "HFS", the Towson station's official calls are "W285EJ" (a low power translator for WWMX-HD2).

The WHFS callsign on 98.7 in Tampa will this week become WBRN-FM.
