EMF buys New Life 91.9; Charlotte to get two K-LOVE stations?

From the Other Board:

WRCM (New Life 91.9) and its sister stations are being sold to K-LOVE’s parent company, EMF Broadcasting.

This would give Charlotte two K-LOVE stations, if WWLV builds out its construction permit.

WWLV CP: http://www.radio-locator.com/cgi-bin/pat?call=WWLV&service=FM&status=C&hours=U

Yeah but the 91.9 signal actually compliments the 94.1 CP by boosting KLOVE coverage in south metro Charlotte. It would fill some holes and then the 100.3 translator would make things inside 485 even clearer.

I wonder why His Radio did not pony up the money for the big 89.7 Columbia and 91.9fm. That would have really filled some coverage gaps

Wow, I don't know how to feel about his. Isn't all the KLOVE stuff piped in from somewhere else? If so, another local voice is lost, that's sad. WRCM has many fans of local Christian Radio.

If I remember correctly, WRCM wasn't local anyway. At least when they started 20 years ago, they were getting their music from Columbia.

Although they played Christmas music, even secular Christmas music, for years. And I don't know where that comes from.

They may have received some direction from Columbia on music selection but it was always locally presented. Which reminds me of when they banned Amy Grant's music on the station because she had gotten a divorce, that was the reason I believe. Seems there was also a story about Amy walking around nude on a beach somewhere but that was a long time ago so I may have the story wrong. Anyway they got quite a bit of flack for banning her music.

They had some nice studios when I first saw the place and they were working on even nicer studios when I left. Too bad that will all go to waste now.

Many private colleges are struggling financially and could use the funds generated by the sale of their radio stations especially when you consider the student body/alumni is using radio less and less and the fact that radio stations are not expected to appreciate in value any time soon in the future. At the end of the day, America's broadcasting system has always operated on the free market enterprise concept. Not saying that is good or bad but its the reality in which we live.
