* part-time All-News station
^ station started All-News in the last couple of years

All stations are owned by CBS except KGO (Cumulus), KROI (Radio One), WTOP (Hubbard), KOMO (Sinclair) and KQV (Calvary). In parenthesis, I include the ratings for the three All-News stations outside the top 10 markets.

It surpises me that Atlanta doesn't have an all news station and the one in Houston is rated so low. Do stations with other formats in these markets have recurring news and traffic updates to the point that an all newser wouldn't work?

Atlanta did have one - briefly.

Nobody's launched a successful all news station in almost 40 years.

There is no shortage in Atlanta of stations with drive-time traffic reports. Also, the various public radio stations are available for news junkies during drive time, so long as the listener likes "Morning Edition" or "All Things Considered". What surprises me is not that Atlanta does not have an all-news station, it is that so many other cities still do.
