What's happening at 94 KQK?

Twitter is swarming with rumors that they are flipping formats, but nothing on regular media confirms this, what do you hear???

So, was KQK skewing too old? Since 95.3 hasn't made a real dent in KIX106, what makes Entercom think the Wolf will cut into their numbers?

Well, lets look at this. 95.3 is what a whopping 3kw maybe? Def think a 50kw station could cut into kix. Although we saw this battle long ago. Maybe everyone has forgotten that by now and they can cut into kix. Would love to be a fly on the wall over at kix right about now..........

I think it all depends on whether Entercom has the money to promote the station and how much 'Nash" is put into Kix 106. If 94.1 has no local personalities, and Kix is able to keep the current 'live and local' daytime talent in place, they may get some sampling, but probably no big shift. If Cumulus pulls a bonehead move like keeping the morning show but dumping Kay Manley and Memphis Mark, they might just play into Entercom's hands. Cumulus is hell bent on making 'Nash" a nationwide format, and so far, Kix has dodged that bullet. Entercom and promotional money? Which of those two things don't go together?

Now if Mighty Media would fix the mushy low bit rate sounding audio on 99.3 we could enjoy classic hits a little more over there.

Well, hate to hear about the format change at 94.1 up there but all that stuff used to happen to me too. That's why I got out of the business and become a professional photographer making the big bucks here in Florida. Guess old Steve will be back to Tunica shaking hands and welcoming people to a casino or two. Maybe doing a stand up routine at the buffet food bar on weeknights. Doing some celebrity valet parking on the weekends. Vacuuming a few carpets after hours.

Hey it could be worse..he could be an adult stable boy at some horse farm in Kentucky..

Old radio people never die. Most of them become old drunks like me, OldTomG
hee hee

Yeah, hate that for him.

Maybe KTRQ can increase their power some (maybe not). Remember hearing their Elvis hour when we were in Memphis last year.

I guess one thing that won't happen that has been rumored on and off for years is that FM 100 won't be going country, at least for a while longer.

Do not call them WKQK anymore, the new call letters for 94.1 The Wolf are WLFP.

Well he referred to them in the past tense, so they were WKQK at the time.

Meanwhile, it appears that the format is moving over to Guess-FM, which is a Jack-like station at 99.3. It is actually a translator of an AM station. Is this what our format is coming to?

Any market where a competitor has gone up against a Cumulus station has been met with a serious attack from corporate. I heard that the big wigs jumped in immediately and reacted. They aren't going to sit idle and let someone eat into their cash cow. listening to both stations KIX has def step things up and are actively promoting no commercial hours all music.
