Not much has been said about it, but Joe Sample who was undoubtedly one of the greatest jazz pianists/keyboardists of all time, passed away Friday Sept. 12th in Houston (his home town). He was 75.

Most of us remember him from his Jazz Crusaders/Crusaders days ("Young Rabbits","Street Life", "Put It Where You Want It") but he also did some amazing solo albums. "Invitation" is one of my favorites. Apparently, he had an album due out the end of the year. Mr. Sample will be missed.

Another smooth jazz legend bites the dust. RIP to Mr. Sample. Some of his stuff is still aired on KOAZ The Oasis, many of his songs got aired on Jones as well. BA probably didn't even notice it.
