Substantial power boost proposed for CKVX 104.9 in Kindersley, Saskatchewan

Dan Sys

Leading Participant
Golden West has applied to increase the power of CKVX 104.9 in Kindersley, Saskatchewan from 50 to 66,000 watts (50 to 100,000 watts maximum ERP). Antenna height will be raised from 27 to 341.2 metres (EHAAT). The transmitter site will be relocated to the former CBC site in Stranraer with the antenna radiation pattern remaining non-directional.

Power increase is 16KW....about 30%...which is not that much in coverage...BUT 27 to 341 meters (88 to about 1120 ft for those folks who used the old way :) ) IS a BIG increase.....could have stayed at 50KW and the range difference with the height increase would be soo close, its not worth mentioning
