WLEV's Expensive Morning Experiment

Tommy Jordan. Ahh Tommy. He was brought in with great fanfare. He got top billing over senior talent Scott Evans. He appeared at a slew of summer events both with and without Evans. Much ado was made about his “close ties” to the Lehigh Valley – after all, he did *overnights* at B104… 20 years ago. He was even “welcomed back” live by Mayor Ed Pawlowski.

And there was this ringing endorsement: “There are few people more passionate about winning than TOMMY. He’s a tireless talent who loves radio completely. I’m personally excited to hear him and SCOTT together in mornings.” (L.St. James, 6/4/14) Really?

Does your business advertise on WLEV? You should ask your sales rep why the station has such high DJ turnover. Point out the most expensive daypart had a half dozen different hosts in as many years. You should consider the competence of management that thinks two middle-aged overweight men will appeal to a female-centric audience. Ponder how someone can make the above statement then do a 180 three months later. And you should give serious thought to squandering your advertising budget on a station that clearly can’t find its way.
