Where Could COMMERCIAL Liberal Talk Radio Go In Denver (Even If Combined With Hot Talk) now that the former is off AM 760 ??
I'm thinking 1430.....
Why ?? Simple. The station's prime age group is rapidly dying off (And the music isn't far behind). Add to that that 99.5 can barely get the audience that 97.3 & 103.5 (Which could be combined into one station IMO) do daily with no problem at all & 105.9 is just getting beaten over the head by KIMN (And vice versa) & here's what I believe *could* happen in the not-so-distant future.....
AM 1430 - Flips from Adult Standards to a Progressive Talk station
FM 105.9 - Flips from Hot AC to Hot Talk (With some edgy Progressive Talk mixed in & KEEPING the KALC calls & Alice moniker)
FM 99.5 - Flips from Classic Rock to Hot AC (I'm sure they'll think of something to call it image wise)
How would the programming work you ask ?? Somewhat simple.....
AM 1430 would pick up the more serious Progressive Talk programming (Ed Schultz, Alan Colmes, Michael Smerconish, Thom Hartmann (If he doesn't go to KGNU or KCFR) etc.) mixed in with some local shows
FM 105.9 would pick up shows like Howard Stern, Stephanie Miller, Jim Rome (Unless he remains on 104.3 The Fan) & would also feature some LOCALLY produced shows as well
Weekend programming on both stations would consist of show repeats & (Mostly) brokered programming
FM 99.5 would pick up the current KALC programming lock, stock & barrel
Thoughts ??
Cheers & 73
