Says the guy who posted tabs instead of treble clef. :D

Tablature is the only music notation we can post in here because it's the only music notation we can produce with alphanumeric characters. To post standard notation one needs to be able to post pictures. We can't embed pictures in our posts.

Besides, tablature is a valid form of musical notation for stringed instruments. Tablature was common during the Renaissance and Baroque eras. The advantage of standard notation is that it can be used by anyone playing any instrument, including counting the human voice as an "instrument". The advantage of tablature is that for the specific instrument it is meant for, it allows specifying which of the several places a note is located on the fretboard should be played. A C played on the first fret of the B string has a different timbre than a C played on the 5th fret of the G string, or the 10th fret of the A string. By using tablature, the composer can specify which sound of the C he intends for a composition. Though Wikipedia isn't a highly respected source of information for controversial subjects, it does have a clear and concise summary of the validity of tablature for musical notation.
