Don Pardo, Announced "Live at Five" and "News4 New York" Dies in Arizona

NBC staff announcer Don Pardo has died in Phoenix at age 96 of unspecified causes.

Don Pardo, the Voice of ‘Saturday Night Live,’ Dies at 96

Don Pardo, who literally introduced television viewers to some of America’s biggest stars and soon-to-be-stars as the longtime announcer for “Saturday Night Live,” died Monday in Tucson. He was 96.

Mr. Pardo’s death was confirmed by his daughter, Dona Pardo.

Oh, my God! I grew up hearing Don Pardo's voice on NBC. In fact, his was the first NBC voice who announced JFK's shooting on November 22, 1963.

When Saturday Night Live begins its 40th season on September 27, the announcer will be Darrell Hammond, a former cast member who had occasionally (and with no publicity) filled in for Don Pardo when Pardo was ill. Hammond even impersonated Pardo's voice!
