I'm going to imagine that if I had the power to pitch a format to anyone in Albany, and when they asked me what it was, I said..."just listen to 100.7 WUTQ (Utica) for one day and tell me what you think"...they'd probably laugh me out of town.
I only say that because it seems the radio execs around here only play the same tune over and over again.
When the station first began not too many years ago, they were on 95.5! And they called themselves B95 (IIRC). (i don't remember the calls) They also had another FM repeater, and were on 1550 AM as well. That all changed a couple of years ago when they moved the main signal from 95.5 to 100.7
They have a pretty good signal now which doesn't interfere with Albany's B95.
They're daily programming consists of a locally based talk format during morning drive. Then it's music from the 70's 80's, 90's (and today) all-day. They also have FOUR HOURS of commercial FREE music (weekdays) during the workday!! TWO hours in the morning, and another TWO hours around afternoon drive!! Are ANY stations in Albany doing that??? Certainly NOT B95 that's for sure!! They LOVE their 5 minute long spot breaks too much.
Thankfully like most stations today, WUTQ streams. But it would be nice to have a station like this serving the Cap District that was accessible at the push of a car button.
