Tribune May Nix Long-Time Conflict Talkers

The station group may not renew Maury, Jerry Springer and Steve Wilkos beyond 2015-16, when its current contract with syndicator NBCUniversal Domestic Television Distribution ends, according to multiple sources. Tribune airs the shows in many markets, including six of the top 10.

Looks like a end of a era of the top three Trash-TV shows will end.

In Chicago, WGN-TV only airs Maury. Steve Wilkos & Jerry Springer are on WCIU 26.1 & on the U TOO via WMEU-CD 48.1 (HD)/WCIU 26.2. If these shows continue past the 2015/16 season, I would expect WCIU to pick up Maury (providing he's still able to actively work). I don't know what they'd put in the 1pm timeslot. The 2pm timeslot currently has The Bill Cunningham Show, which is part of the CW Daytime (first season was on Tribune only stations)

So much for getting WQAD to air these shows...

Maybe affiliates will finally start airing movies, cartoon reruns and 80s sitcoms during weekdays. The closer we get to heritage "indie" status the better. (My dream is 1 in a million however...)
